An independent school for girls in 6th-12th grades, Castilleja has been educating women leaders since 1907.
Our Students
Our student body reflects the cultural and economic diversity of our region—with some students who live in Palo Alto and surrounding communities and others who commute from San Francisco to the north, San Jose to the south, and various neighborhoods in the East Bay.

We are passionate about teaching young women to become intellectual partners through mentorship.
Castilleja faculty members are dedicated to educating young women for a lifetime of learning and leading and have been recognized by local, state, and national organizations for their contributions to student learning on our own campus and beyond.
Our Facilities
At Castilleja, learning is dynamic and exciting. Some lessons takes place in classrooms and science labs, while others happen in studios dedicated to art, music, drama, or video production. Additional campus features include:
Bourn Idea Lab
This state-of-the-art fabrication workshop features 3D printers, a laser cutter, traditional woodshop tools, robotics equipment, electronics components, microcontrollers, and so much more!
Awareness, Compassion and Engagement Center (ACE)
Our campus resource for leadership, diversity, and global curriculum offers opportunities for internships and community engagement on local, national, and international levels.
Elizabeth Hughes Chapel Theater
The primary performance space on campus, our Chapel Theater features all-new sound and lighting systems with a dedicated control room where students practice production skills and techniques.
Margarita Espinosa Library
This communal open space for study and extended classroom work is supported by a variety of traditional and new media resources.
Joan Z. Lonergan Fitness and Athletics Center
Our multi-level facility encompasses two full gymnasiums, a cardio and weight-training room, a dance space, a yoga/spin studio, and an indoor climbing wall.
Anita Seipp Gallery
This 1,000-square-foot art gallery features rotating exhibits by students and professional artists.
